Praying for Houston

The news coming out of Houston is pretty terrifying.  A police officer was killed while trying to serve others… A mother drowns while saving the life of her 3 year old… There are so many terrible stories out there of everyday people just trying to survive.

People coming together for their neighbors!
As I watch these situations develop, I know I can get overwhelmed by all the pain out there.  It is easy to feel inadequate in these moments.  However, Christ taught His followers never to let the world overwhelm you… for as overwhelming as the situation is, something powerful happens when people come together for the sake of their neighbor.  I was reminded of this when I saw pictures of ordinary Texans with boats heading into the city to help anyone they could.  Businesses started opening their doors to people in need, and monetary donations started coming in.  Whatever we face in this world, Christ promises never to leave us.  As a church, we are called to stand together and offer Christ’s Love to all.

Please keep all the people of Houston in your prayers this week, and if you feel called to donate, you can click the link below.  Know that 100% of the money taken in by the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Hurricane Relief will go directly to the people in need!

Blessings!
